Three layers behind every lobby

Operators, game studios and regulators each do a different job. Knowing which is which makes our comparisons easier to read.

Operators

An operator is the brand that holds the UK remote gambling licence and presents the lobby to you — Sky Vegas, Grosvenor, Jackpotjoy and the others on our homepage. Some sit inside large groups (for example Flutter or Rank); others remain more independent. Group ownership can share safer-gambling tooling and support platforms, but each licensed brand still appears on the Commission’s register in its own right.

Operators decide which studios to stock, how to layout mobile apps, and how to present welcome offers. They are also the party responsible for age checks, affordability processes required under UK rules, and providing account-level limits.

Game providers

Studios such as NetEnt, Playtech, Evolution and many others build the slots and live-dealer tables. A single title can appear on many licensed sites. When we mention “game studios” in the comparison table, we are asking whether the operator names reputable partners rather than hiding a thin catalogue behind generic art.

Live casino rooms are usually powered by specialist suppliers who stream dealers from studios. That is why Grosvenor or Sky Vegas can feel “deep” on live tables even though the camera feed is not filmed in a high-street club that week.

Regulation in Great Britain

The UK Gambling Commission licences and supervises remote operators that serve players in Great Britain. Licence conditions cover fairness testing expectations, advertising standards in coordination with other bodies, complaint handling and mandatory safer-gambling tools. Sites that skip a UK licence are outside the legal market we cover.

Player-facing schemes such as GAMSTOP sit alongside operator tools: self-exclusion at national level is designed so one registration covers participating licensed online brands.

Where Quee Winning Tables sits

We are none of the three layers above. We are an affiliate-funded publisher that compares licensed operators for readers. Commission from sponsored links pays for the site; it does not rewrite a UKGC check. For brand-by-brand notes, return to the homepage showcase.
